  • 32,000 pints of blood are used every day in the US.

  • Every 3 seconds, someone is need of blood.

  • 1 in 10 people admitted to a hospital need blood.

  • 1 pint of blood can save as many as three lives.

  • An adult has 10 points of blood in his or her body.

  • A newborn baby has 1 cup of blood in his or her body.

  • Three gallons of blood supports the whole country for one minute.

  • Since a pint is a pound, you lose a pound everytime you donate blood.

  • HP printer black ink is more expensive than blood.

  • A man named James Harrison has donated blood over 1,000 times, saving over 2 million unborn babies from rhesus disease.

  • The first successful blood transfusions took place between dogs in the 1660s. 

  • All blood isn't red. Crabs have blue blood, earthworms and leeches have green blood and some invergebrates like starfish have clear or yellowish blood.
